KALITRAGUS

Kalitragus is the live performance project of Giovanni Barbieri, active since February 2020.

The project moves across genres with an instinctive and experimental approach, grounded in deep listening, improvisation and collective practice.
Through self-taught exploration, I developed a personal language using modular synthesizers, where sound takes shape in real time and decisions emerge through interaction with people and spaces.

Kalitragus operates within collective contexts such as Conserere, Sound Benessere and Milano Modulare, focusing on live sets, improvisation-based performances, educational paths and sound installations.

Releases include Neuro and Mist Diggers (with Sara Siami), with additional contributions to Patchwork 1 and Patchwork 2.

The name Kalitragus comes from the tumbleweed — a plant that moves with the wind, scattering its seeds unpredictably — as a symbol of free movement and non-linear dispersion.
